Infinity DLL is used to enrich teaching and learning across the school curriculum. It helps to enhance the language proficiency of students and teachers’ skills in information technology application within a computer room. Teacher can make use of the resource materials available in various media formats, such as audio and video tapes, laser disks, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, and the Internet to enliven the learning environment in the Lab. During interactive activities, like group discussion and conferencing, as well as self-learning, teacher can provide alternative perspectives of the subject / topic via various resource materials. Infinity DLL is designed for classes of maximum 120 students which is very popular in PR China.

With the hassle-free functional design, teachers can quickly understand the operation. In addition, Infinity DLL is designed for non IT background teachers to manage with pedagogical application in its Graphic User Interface, providing step by step indication for all class activities. Infinity DLL is the only system to include a student user interface (SUI) at all students’ screens, it helps the students to be more concentrated during the class.

In view of the importance of language learning and practice, the sound file collection system of Infinity DLL is able to ensure all students’ recorded sound clips can be successfully delivered to teacher’s computer or school server.

Basically, Infinity DLL consists of 4 functional sub-systems:

Audio-visual Teaching – for general class activities management,
Language Laboratory – for language learning and practice,
Examination – for testing learning progress, and
Self-studying – for student self learning.

1. For General Class Activities Management

Teachers find it very simple in using Infinity DLL to broadcast the teacher screen of Flash, PowerPoint, DVD, etc to all students’ monitor at the same pace. Infinity DLL provides tools to ensure that teacher can converse with individual student, or a group of students at any time via the headsets to provide necessary guidance or help. Also, Infinity DLL is equipped with a full-functioned management tool. Teacher can focus on teaching as the class management will be carried out automatically by the system.

In case of any student detaches the LAN cable, Infinity DLL can resume student screen with teacher’s screen at same pace once the cable is plugged back. The teaching and class control system in Infinity DLL can be overlapped during class session. That helps teachers to focus on teaching rather spending too much energy on class management.

2. For Language Practice

Infinity DLL facilitates the student pairing and grouping, and telephone pairing. During grouping, the system will response automatically, such as the identity of the student’s partners and sound recorder will be automatically shown on the student’s user interface (SUI). All the conversation between students can be recorded and conveyed to teacher’s workstation in MP3 format. Teacher can listen to the discussion content after school to identify areas to provide further guidance and follow up.

Infinity DLL has the innovation technologies to transmit digitized sound and video with the highly crystal quality of insignificant time delay over the computer network to facilitate efficient students’ group discussion. Without the need of any hardware audio box, Infinity DLL is able to support stereo sound playback with sound tone at students’ and teacher positions.

3. For Testing Learning Progress

To evaluate the students’ learning progress, Infinity DLL offers an Exam mode which allows teacher to provide short quiz or small examination. Teachers will find it so simple to scan or upload the questions with multiple choices. The questions can be of any format, written text, figures or photos, voice, video, etc.

To test the students’ speaking ability in the oral examination, teachers can use a multimedia file including sound or video, or use their live voice through the microphone as a question, students listen and provide their answer verbally. Both teacher and individual student’s voices are recorded and to be passed to teacher’s computer after the exam. Teacher can give the scores according to the students’ performance in the sound clips.

4. For Student Self- learning with Limited Freedom

During a normal class, teacher will not keep talking or teaching all the time. The students will enter a self studying mode when necessary so that they can learn by themselves. In order to manage the students to work on the same material, Infinity DLL is the only system to provide an effective Self-Studying mode in two aspects. Teacher can open the Channel On Demand function, the specified content of video, audio and text are selected and sent to the SUI of students’ workstations. Students are forced to study these materials by themselves; they cannot go out of the SUI and watch other materials.

In addition, teacher can limit students’ access to certain folders at the teacher workstation or content server. With the SUI, students cannot go around the school network to access other materials not designated by the teacher.

Infinity DLL provides a full-functioned management tool so that the teacher can block to access Internet, lock the student’s keyboard and mouse, as well as these special keys and hot keys. Teacher has the absolute priority of operation and is able to remote control any student functions at any time regardless of any activities that are being carried out by the students.
